The requirements for further training in production, and especially in automotive engineering, are complex. Development of a network-based and work-integrated further training system for workers in vehicle manufacturing was carried out with this fact in mind. The system was created as part of the ALF (Arbeiten und Lernen im Fachbereich, Working and learning in the workplace) joint project.

Development approach:

• Develop the didactic concept
• Create a didactic database
• “Diagonal career” – assign qualification profiles to qualification levels and connect them to career paths
• Provide support during the learning process

ALF – implementation results:

• Transfer of methods of conveying professional competency to act into the field of occupational further training
• Development and provision of a business learning infrastructure
• Derivation of further education profiles (training goals and contents) from process analyses
• Provision of learning media (in the form of a didactic database)
• Testing, transfer and evaluation of the implementation
• Establishment of a project and information management system
